Sewing; sewing; sewing!
I have been sewing for as long as I can remember. At five I made my first hand stitched item at school; an apron, complete with embroidered name! I loved the whole process and that continues today. For me sewing is not just a practical skill but a creative activity that gives a lot of pleasure and the satisfaction of making clothes. Over the years, I have developed my skills and have had years of personal teaching experience. I love teaching and seeing others grow in confidence as they master new skills. The delight for me is seeing their satisfaction when they finish that - dress - skirt – or – coat!
Sew Confident One-to-One workshops and Masterclasses are designed to help you to learn to sew with confidence, so you enjoy making the clothes you will love to wear. They are designed for you to try new techniques, whilst building on the sewing skills you already have.
The Masterclasses offer a series of two hour workshops that focus on particular sewing techniques, and other aspects of sewing and tailoring. The Masterclasses are deigned to build up a portfolio of techniques and knowledge that you can take way with you so that you can tackle that garment you have always wanted to make.

Today I had a one-to-one sewing class with Gwen at Fabric Corner.
I learned how to follow pattern instructions correctly, and how to take accurate measurements.Gwen showed me how to make, and adjust a calico toile before we cut the fabric for my final garment.I learned other dressmakers handy tips as we went along.I jotted this all down in a folder that Gwen had made personally for me, which had my chosen pattern on its cover.
The end result was a super pair of wide leg loose fitting trousers.I wouldn't have tackled this project on my own.
The price of the class included a High tea (yummy) provided by Bridie from The Craftea Cafe and a £10.00 fabric voucher to spend in the shop.
It was a really good day and i am so pleased with what i made.
Thank you Gwen, Kay and Bridie xxx
